Job Description:

As we grow and expand, we have an immediate need for a Senior Electrical Engineer to join our Nashville office. This person will be responsible for the electrical design and coordination of commercial, healthcare, and institutional projects – from early concept through construction. The ideal candidate is experienced, detail-oriented, and capable of leading design efforts independently while mentoring junior team members.


Responsibilities

  • Lead the design of electrical building systems, including power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, and low-voltage systems from schematic design through construction documents.

  • Develop practical, code-compliant, and constructible engineering solutions while balancing project budget, schedule, and client objectives through sound engineering judgment.

  • Perform electrical engineering calculations including load calculations, short circuit analysis, voltage drop, and other system analyses as required.

  • Ensure designs comply with the National Electrical Code (NEC), applicable building codes, energy codes, and project-specific standards.

  • Coordinate electrical system design with in-house Architectural, Structural, Mechanical, and Plumbing teams to deliver fully integrated project solutions.

  • Serve as the electrical engineering lead on assigned projects, managing electrical deliverables and coordinating with internal team members throughout the design process.

  • Review shop drawings, product submittals, and Requests for Information (RFIs), providing timely technical responses and recommendations.

  • Participate in interdisciplinary coordination meetings, design reviews, and client meetings as needed.

  • Coordinate with contractors, consultants, utility providers, and Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs) throughout design and construction.

  • Conduct site observations and provide construction administration support to verify installation aligns with design intent.

  • Perform quality control reviews of electrical drawings, specifications, and calculations to maintain high standards of accuracy and consistency.

  • Mentor junior engineers and designers by providing technical guidance, design support, and constructive feedback.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.

  • 5+ years of experience designing electrical systems for commercial, retail, industrial, institutional, or similar building projects.

  • Active Professional Engineer (PE) license; Engineer-in-Training (EIT) candidates with a clear path toward licensure will also be considered.

  • Strong knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC), applicable building codes, and industry standards.

  • Experience preparing construction documents, engineering calculations, and technical specifications.

  • Proficiency with Revit, AutoCAD, Microsoft Office, and electrical design software such as SKM, EasyPower, ETAP, AGi32, Visual Lighting

  • Ability to independently manage multiple projects and priorities while meeting deadlines.

  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with the ability to exercise sound engineering judgment.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary teams, clients, and contractors.

  • Experience coordinating multidisciplinary building projects through all phases of design and construction.

  • Experience mentoring junior staff or serving as a technical resource within an engineering team.

  • Familiarity with sustainable design principles, energy-efficient building systems, and applicable energy codes.
